I met and interviewed Grant McLennan once on the release of his first solo album. He was a witty, affable gentleman.
Too bad that Grant McLennan died so early. The solo albums of him or Robert Forster never reached the class of their early teamwork with the Go-Betweens.
Used to patronise Au Go Go now and then. Classic record store. Classic kitchen, for that matter!
The strength of Go-Betweens lay in the fact that they turned with Australian rock to the tender things of life. It’s a pity that they started British songwriting.
